November’s machine of the month is a high speed front of pack print and apply labelling system for a major food manufacturer.
The machine has been installed on an existing slat conveyor, at the exit of the cartoning machine, where the trays containing glass jars travel in a single row. The head is able to apply the label onto the front of the trays at speeds up to 40 trays per minute. The customer can to choose either to apply pre-printed labels or to print and apply them in line with variable unit pack data such as a barcode, description, batch number, etc.
The system uses our ALritma M label head, with loose loop web control system, integrating a Sato print engine to create an ALritma T batch print and apply machine. The system allows the customer to bypass the SATO printer when pre-printed labels are being used. The machine is equipped with our well proven rotary arm tamp-blow application system for front face labelling. For this project a short and light version of the device was used to achieve higher labeling speeds and to manage trays with a shorter distance between units
