ALTech have recently installed a vial wraparound labelling system within a major European pharmaceutical company. The customer requested an off-line system to allow a single operator to easily un-load and re-load the vials to and from trays. The machine was also required to include all of the typical pharma features such as variable data printing, camera controls, recipe managing, batch reporting and operator logs.
The solution is based on ALTech’s ALpharma machine range, designed specifically for labelling pharmaceutical products and fitted with a high performance ALritma X labelling head, scroll infeed and direct wraparound application module, as well as a tray loaded infeed rotary table and bespoke outfeed collection system for easy unloading of the system, with automatic indexing between trays.
The entire solution is managed by a Siemens PLC based control system, with a touch panel colour HMI. The PLC manages the vision system and rejection of mislabelled products, the operator log and batch production data all from a single user access controlled product recipe setup.
