Pick and Place Vacuum Pick Up Feeding Systems

A UK speciality is the design and manufacture of pick and place feeding solutions for difficult to manage product types which are generally either too flexible or not consistent (in their shape or thickness) to reliably operate with other feed solutions.

Systems typically use either a venturi or high airflow vacuum pickup system. Where, as the name suggests, products are individually placed (using a pneumatic or reciprocating movement system) on a one-by-one basis on to a matched conveyor handling belt, with little or no setup required between product types, meaning pick and place feeders are one of the easiest to operate and flexible feed solutions you can choose.

Single Hopper Feed Solutions

Single hopper systems are simple and inexpensive, providing a good level of productivity increase over manually feeding a machine.

In general, they hold between 150mm and 300mm of product, depending on its stackability and therefore are most suited to either relatively thin and even pouch/bag products, where the product can be stacked evenly, or lower volume large products such as sacks.

Multi-Hopper Feed Systems

Our multi-hopper pick & place solution concept is particularly suited to products which are not easily stackable, as well as to further improve machine productivity and reduce staffing.

Smaller products with zip-locks or shape memory, or larger bags and sacks with pillow ends, for example, do not sit evenly when stacked, and consequently are difficult to place (in a hopper stack). Our well-proven solution to resolve this is to not to try and stack the product in a tall stack, but to split the products over many smaller hoppers, with automatic indexing between these maintain machine productivity.

This reliable solution concept also has further benefits of allowing hoppers to automatically set for different product types intelligently and without the need for operator setup (even with the potential to automatically move between different product types), and when matched to a high-capacity collection conveyor, can provide a load and walk away solution allowing staff to be re-deployed to other more valuable tasks.
