ALcode LL (Linerless) is a revolutionary new print/apply member of our ALcode machine family, the core technology of which has been developed under licence via Irplast Srl, a world leading manufacturer of linerless adhesive materials.

The unique selling proposition of this innovative technology is the use of adhesive materials without siliconated backing, offering many great advantages compared with the widespread use of self-adhesive labels, including:
  • A considerably lower cost per label - generally between 15 - 30% lower than standard silicone backed die cut labels.
  • Zero silicone paper waste - which is difficult to recycle, thus reducing landfill and aiding environmental responsibility.
  • More than double the reel capacity of a standard roll of labels - less media changes, less media storage, less machine down time.
  • Label stock rationalisation (particularly with multi unit sites) - on board cutting system allows generic label rolls to be cut to different label lengths for different applications.

The new ALcode LL is based on a number of innovative (patented) concepts for unwinding the material from the roll, cutting, overprinting and applying the label to the product. The process is smooth, reliable, and has been widely tested in numerous plants of large multinationals that were first to take up this economic and environmental-friendly technology.

“PMH” the approved linerless adhesive material for the ALcode LL consisting of a matt BOPP film, coated with Hot Melt adhesive (without solvent residues) for permanent label application. The material has a full adhesive coating and is expressly designed as a linerless material for identification of products (typically bar code), through thermal transfer overprinting. The material can be supplied blank or pre-printed with up to 10 colours, and ensures the highest resistance to any abrasion.

As per the standard ALcode range, the same comprehensive range of modular label application systems are available providing a multitude of air and contact application system allowing print and label application on all sides of an object, including corners, at a variable speed range from 20 to 80 labels/min depending on label size and product pitch.

By default the unit is provided with a SATO (developers of the first ever OEM print engine) S8408 DT/TT dedicated inline print engine, with special linerless kit, offering up to 16” per sec print speed at 200dpi (300/600dpi also available) but can also be supplied with a choice of print engines from other manufacturers and widths from Zerbra, DATAMAX and INTERMEC to name but a few with their relative specifications and features.

Of particular note, with the technology proven, the ALcode LL demands only a small purchase premium over our standard print and apply range, meaning its total life cost for any medium to high volume label application is substantially less than any traditional silicone backed label print and apply applicator.
