Premium Italian flair meets Welsh ingenuity 🏴
Crash-lock and corrugated outer case boxes don’t normally mix on one feed system — crash-lock blanks are often irregular / non-stackable with uneven mass, so “standard hopper feeding” becomes a compromised, tiny stack that isn’t worth the loading effort.
This solution avoids compromise:
• Bulk hopper + shingle infeed with automatic replenishment (built for crash-lock blanks)
• Movable transport belts to handle dramatically different box sizes
• Multiple ALritma L (300mm) labelling heads for premium build, proven low-maintenance reliability, and flexible label formats (twin top and base)
• Precision + repeatability at impressive speed, even as feed frequency varies with box size
• Designed and manufactured by ALTech UK in our South Wales workshops, around customer-provided samples
• Modular future-proofing: print engine can be added as an option later
The story (more detail)…
Feeding crash-lock boxes is difficult in its own right. Their irregular shape and uneven distribution of mass means they don’t sit or stack consistently, so conventional hopper concepts either misfeed or force constant operator intervention. Add the requirement to also run much larger corrugated outer case boxes (often known as ‘American Boxes’), and most systems end up optimised for one format and compromised for the other.
For this project, our customer needed a single feed-and-label platform capable of reliably handling both carton styles in flat form — including both inner and outer box formats — while maintaining accurate label placement and dependable throughput.
ALTech UK designed and manufactured the solution in our South Wales workshops, engineered around customer-provided samples. The bulk hopper shingle feed ensures stable separation and automatic replenishment for crash-lock blanks, whilst the movable transport belts guide and stabilise dramatically different box dimensions for consistent presentation. Multiple ALritma L (300mm) labelling heads then deliver accurate, repeatable application across a wide range of label formats with proven low-maintenance operation.
The result is significant productivity gains and a system that’s straightforward to justify commercially: one machine, one operator workflow, and dependable performance across both carton styles — without the usual compromises.
