A turnkey answer to awkward bag handling ⚙️
This offline bag and sack feeding and labelling system is a more complex turnkey solution, designed and built by ALTech UK in South Wales.
Shown here handling large plastic bags and sacks, it represents a type of offline sack labelling machine we have been building and refining for many years.
In applications like this, the labelling becomes easier when the product presentation is right.
Our dual–belt parallel running system allows the product to be sensed from above or below through the gap between the belts, using a reliable break–beam sensing solution.
For thin, flexible bags and sacks, this avoids more complex sensing methods such as diffuse, contrast or capacitive sensors, which can be affected by print, gloss, folds, colour variation and inconsistent surfaces.
This is combined with our algorithmic labelling head control, including a sensor inhibit function where the product length can be entered to ignore secondary false signals from the same bag.
In the video, we also demonstrate the adaptability of our labelling head control.
For this system, we have taken the control platform from our standard ALritma labelling head and expanded it to operate the wider machine — similar in principle to our premium ALline series.
Where required, we can add, remove or lock down features to suit the application, operator and process.
The more difficult part is often the feeding.
Plastic bags and sacks can be flexible, inconsistent and difficult to separate.
Our solution uses proven pick–and–place lifting concepts, secondary drive rollers, intelligent stack engagement, secondary guiding and air blow assistance to achieve reliable, repeatable feeding from a stacked presentation.
The result is a robust offline bag labelling machine for a bag-filling facility, delivering:
• Substantial labour savings
• Consistent bag and sack presentation
• Uniform label placement
• A controlled, repeatable offline labelling process
The machine shown is configured for labelling, but the same platform can also be used for coding plastic bags, sacks and similar flat products.
Because ALTech UK can design and build machines like this, we can also support machines like this.
So, don’t think of ALTech only as an Italian labelling machine manufacturer.
Many of our specialist machines are built right here in the UK. Or Wales, to be more specific. 🐉
