ALTech have installed a high performance ALritma X labelling head to apply booklet and peel-reveal labels for a leading manufacturer of labels and leaflets within the healthcare industry. The customer required an applicator to be retrofitted onto their Rotoflex S1000 slitter rewinding system and to place either a booklet or peel-reveal label onto a base label to create an extended content label, particular common with healthcare and toiletry products.
This is an extremely demanding application requiring a cruising operation speed of more than 500 labels p/minute, all applied to an accuracy of within +/- 1mm and given the customer already operated ALritma X labelling heads on site (supplied to them as integral parts of their specialist label conversion machinery) they were confident ALTech could deliver their requirements.
The machine is ideally suited to on-web high performance label application requirements due to its exceptional performance, both in terms of speed and accuracy, matched with increased run time label unwind and rewind capacities. Key to the machine’s performance in this application is its ability to perfectly match the web speed of the slitter-rewinder (even when the machine operating speed is increased or decreased), precisely reading the speed of the web via encoder, and performing a continuous complex algorithm in real time to maintain the label position.
The machine was retrofitted to the Rotoflex slitter-rewinder by ALTech’s UK engineering team, using a customer bracket mount and extended arm peeler to fit the machine perfectly within the web path. As a labelling machine manufacturer ALTech are able to adapt many elements of the shape and configuration of their modular systems, allowing it to be easily integrated with other equipment in a wide range of environments and spatial constraints.
